Chapter 26 Summary
School starts again for Scout and Jem, Scout is going into 3rd grade and Jem into 7th. Scout learns about Hitler and how he persecuted so many Jews. This troubles her and she goes home to ask her dad why the Jews didn't fight back and Atticus didn't have the answer. Jem got a spot on the football team and eats a lot of bananas to try to get bigger so he can have a better spot on the team. Scout goes to him with this same question and he doesn't really know either.
Chapter 26 Analysis
Chapter 26 shows Scout the harsh reality of the world even though she might not under stand it yet. Her not understanding why the Jews didn't fight Hitler back shows her innocence and how she doesn't know the real world yet. This chapter does bring up a good question, " how can you hate Hitler so bad an' then turn around and be ugly at folks right at home?"
Chapter 27 Summary
Mr. Ewell gets a job but is fired for laziness, and starts harassing Helen, Mr. Deas soon puts an end to it though. Scout recalls how last October kids pranks two deaf ladies, hiding their furniture in their cellar because they didn't give candy out on Halloween. This year they decide to throw a carnival in the school auditorium where Scout learns that she will be playing a role in the parade of meats, the ham.

This chapter shows how bad off Mr. Ewell really is, he cant even keep a that he got from welfare. The two deaf ladies now that they have to make it up to the kids for last Halloween, so the carnival is a small attempt to fix things, but it shows how greedy people can be. How mad would you have to be the hide all of someones furniture in their cellar.
Chapter 28 Summary
Jem and Scout are coming home from an unsuccessful night on account of Scout missing her que as the ham because she fell asleep. On their way back they hear a noise, someone following them, and Jem tries to keep calm and tell Scout that its Celic, but she knows better. Their stalker attacks, Scout runs, Jem starts fight with the man, he breaks his arm, and is knocked unconscious. When Scout looks for Jem she sees a dead man the smells like booze and a man carrying Jem to their house. The dead man and their stalker was Robert Ewell.
Chapter 28 Analysis
Robert Ewell was angry, he just lost his job and Scout and Jem's father just defended the man that allegedly raped his daughter. He was tried of being the low life of Maycomb. He was looking for a way to deal with his anger, so he got drunk and went after Jem and Scout. But someone was there to defend them.
Chapter 29 summary
Scout tells her side of what happened, and how Mr. Ewell came after her and Jem. Robert had tried to cut scout with a knife, there were cut marks on the ham costume. And the man in the corner, the man the carried Jem home, and saved them both is Boo Radley.
Chapter 29 Analysis
This Chapter is complete closure for the reader and the characters in the story, THEY FIND OUT WHO BOO IS! Scout is so happy shes almost in tears and all shes says is "Hey, Boo".
Chapter 30 Summary
Atticus reminds her that she should call him Mr. Arthur, she then gets to formally meet him. She shows him the house, offers him to sit, and tries to make him feel at home. Then Atticus and Mr. Tate start talking about how Jem might of killed Ewell, Mr. Tate says that Ewell fell on his own blade. When Atticus isn't to sure.
Chapter 30 Analysis
Atticus just can't shut up and let everyone believe that Ewell fell on his own blade, he can't lie. But at this point its pretty obvious that Boo killed Ewell but they don't want to bring him into the public.

Scout walks Boo home and finally sees everything from his point of view. she replays all of her memories from his point of view and walks home. Scout sees Atticus in Jems room and is reading him a scary story, Atticus enplanes that scary is only in books and Scout falls asleep listening to him. Atticus takes her to bed and tells her that most people are nice when you finally see them. and returned to Jem for when he woke up.
